Music Production

For my first assignment for audio and music for games, I had to incorporate 7 sounds givens as well as using music loop from GarageBand to craft a music piece must last 1 minute to 1 minute and 10 seconds, After I was done crafting the music piece, I did some editing in Audacity to finish the music piece. This is my end result.

Maya Texturing

For my next assignment for Maya, I had to uv unwrap and texture the dragon model I did for an earlier assignment. Because of time constraints, i did the uv unwrapping badly and it resulted in a weird texturing for parts of the dragon.

Bacteria Wipeout

The approved and updated version of my previously mentioned proposed flash game.

Name of flash game: Bacteria Wipeout

1) What is the game idea about?
You are a mouthwash agent. Your owner decided to use you to kill bacteria residing in the mouth. You are tasked with clearing all bacteria. You start off at one end of the gum and navigate through the teeth to reach the other end.

2) Why do players want to play your game? What is the unique selling point?
It features a time based event. After a minute of gameplay, an icon would be displayed showing that the event is ready. Once you click on the button, the game will paused and three facedown cards will appear. Selecting either one of them will trigger an effect, the effect can be a positive or negative effect temporary. This is unique compared to most other games which uses a checkpoint reward system. The countdown for the event will start again when you have selected your card.

3) Who is the target audience?
Childrens.

4) How is the game played?

Objectives
To clear all the bacteria left in the mouth.

Game mechanics
Players are able to move left and right as well as able to jump on top of the tooth or drop down to the gum platform. Players are granted an action mechanic, shoot, which players will use to get rid of bacteria. Every one minute of gameplay, the game display an icon. Once clicked, the game will paused and players will be able to choose a card which will either buff or weaken the player. Upon reaching certain checkpoints, players will face with an onslaught of bacteria. Player will then be able to proceed on after defeating the bacteria onslaught. At the last onslaught, there will be a powered up bacteria which serve as a boss.

Mouse – Cursor will be displayed as a crosshair to show players the shooting path of
mouthwash liquid.

Mouse left click – Shoots mouthwash liquid.

Gameplay
Player is granted control of a mouthwash unit. Players then travel the mouth to clear all bacteria left behind. To kill the bacteria, players will shoot mouthwash liquid at it till it dies. Getting damaged by the bacteria will result in health lost. Upon losing all health, the player will lose and fail the mission. At certain checkpoint of the games, onslaught of bacteria will attack the player and the player is unable to move on unless the onslaught is defeated. At the final segment of the game, there will be a bacteria boss which is stronger and has more health than normal bacteria. After every one minute of gameplay, an icon for the event will become available. Once the icon has been clicked, the game will be paused and three facedown cards will appear. Each card contains different and random effects. The effects can be a positive effect such as strengthen your mouthwash agent or a negative effect such as weakening your agent.  The effects are temporary.

Rules
Game will end when the player successfully defeats the boss or when player is defeated by losing all health points.

Idea inspiration
Mega Man series – A game series where players controls the main protagonist who navigates through stages to defeat the bosses. Ideas and mechanics inspired from the Mega Man game series are wall climbing mechanics, platforms and boss battle at the end of stages. I included the listed mechanics inside the game.

Death Worm – A game where players control the worm to eat living objects to grow. Ideas and mechanics inspired from Death Worm are checkpoint permanent upgrades and kill requirements. I changed the checkpoint permanent upgrades to the time based event which will buff or weaken the player. The events however, are temporary in my game. In Death Worm, players are able to see their own upgrades. However, I changed the mechanics in my game so that players are not able to see the event cards. I also include a kill requirement system which has a tooltip to display bacteria left before the boss.

Original Monopoly – A board game where players have to utilise properties in order to force other players to become bankrupt in order to win. Ideas and mechanics inspired from Monopoly are unknown card events from Chance and Community Chest. Monopoly event cards include positive and negative events. I used the idea of players unable to foresee their upcoming event cards so players are unable to choose the one that will benefit them and also includes negative events that will weaken the player.
